Fells Point is the oldest neighborhood we serve, and its gutters show it. The rowhomes along Thames Street and the surrounding blocks date to the 1700s and 1800s — back when gutters were wooden boxes lined with metal, or half-round copper hung with handmade brackets. Some of those systems are still up there in spirit, if not in function. Working on Fells Point gutters means working on history, and we treat it that way.
The historic district rules matter here. Exterior changes visible from the street go through review, and gutters are visible. We know the drill: profiles and colors that suit the period, documentation for the review board, and workmanship that respects 200-year-old brick and wood. A Fells Point cornice is not something you learn on — the crew that touches it needs to have done it before.
Below the historic surface, the water problems are pure Baltimore rowhouse: rear gutters nobody looks at, shared downspouts on party walls, box gutters rotting silently in the cornice. The age just means everything is more delicate and more consequential. Our inspections here are thorough and photo-documented — when you are making decisions about a 150-year-old drainage system, you want to see what we see.
